Our neighbors, the staff at TSM Design, were inspired this season to help fund a very special sewing program at Make-It Springfield, and to inspire others to donate. We couldn’t be more grateful for those who join us in our vision to serve the creative needs of our diverse community. Thank you TSM Design! Here is an excerpt from their blog post about their challenge to other businesses:
“We at TSM Design are currently reviewing our professional and personal giving. We want to make sure our roles as donors and volunteers reflects our beliefs and values. This holiday season we decided to direct one of our holiday donations to a meaningful program to support refugees.
Make-It Springfield on Bridge Street in Springfield, in collaboration with Jewish Family Services of western Mass, launched a sewing program to support recently settled refugee women from Syria and the Congo. The 15 participants speak several different languages, some have babies in tow, and all want to learn how to sew to support their families.
We were moved by the story and motivated to donate a substantial gift, in part, because the program had not received anticipated grant funding. The program expenses include translator costs, a small stipend for the sewing instructor, and childcare assistance. We were happy to donate one-quarter of the total program cost in the hope that our gift might serve as a challenge to others. READ THE REST OF TSM DESIGN’S STORY ABOUT THEIR GIFT
Thank you TSM Design!
