We are planning a Salon at Make-It in the early Spring. It seems like a perfect year to support the soul-centered meaning of life right here, in a city in western MA, that can always be communicated through poetry, music, art and storytelling. It might be useful to experience as much of this as possible in one’s life this year.
I am just loving the way this kind of communication bypasses analytical thinking and that, in so many ways, creative spaces allow for a break from the challenges of our small self-centered reality.
So often visitors step into Make-It Springfield’s studio in downtown Springfield and look to me like they are planning to step free of “form” and into a space where they don’t have to be identified strictly by their roles, like father, teacher, caretaker, activist, etc. Sometimes it’s healing to exist beyond those “roles” and find a place where you become more aware of who you are. You get to slow down.
Multitasking, and the noise and distractions going on today, the speed by which things are splattered and happening are not necessarily good for us. It is no wonder that we are always hearing about attention deficit disorder or seeing the damage that comes with our elevated levels of stress.
Keep and eye out for it and experience our Make-It Salon if you can this Spring; and watch for the retreat we plan to organize for makers and artists who want some quiet time.
Hang in there while these patterns of negativity are busting out all over. And when you feel like making something, or sitting in creative energy, know that you are welcome to come in to Make-It Springfield. Come for some joy and compassion, and keep creating. Our intention is to honor who you are.
