We are excited to announce that we are hosting a two part event in October called Stashcraft Craft Sessions. This event will be facilitated by artist and jewelry maker Cait Young on October 12th 12-2pm and October 23rd 4:30-6pm

I got to sit down and speak with Cait about one of her recent creations – the striking red necklace you can see in the photo.
Please enjoy this interview with Cait, learn more about her process and make sure you check out the flyer for more details and sign up to attend the event!
Jamila: What was your inspiration for this piece?
Cait: Finding a use for loose beads. I like tassels and I haven’t made one out of beads before so I took a shot and got it done. I like the way it came out.
Jamila: What were some challenges that came up in your process?
Cait: Learning a technique because you can have an idea of what you want to make, but then you’ve got to work on what you initially think will be the way to accomplish it and then if it doesn’t work out then seek out different techniques until you are satisfied with the result.
Jamila: Who supports you in your creativity?
Cait: So far, the Make-It Springfield maker space, as far as having a space to do it and having the supplies. I definitely wouldn’t have made this necklace if it wasn’t for this space.
Thank you Cait!
